I can’t believe it’s that time of year already. The time of year when the man with the red suit decides if we’ve been naughty or nice. Most of us have probably been a little of both. But..On Guitar, I’ve been nothing but nice.. lol. And speaking of guitar, the fact that we’re all guitar players means that most of us have a one track mind when it comes to our christmas lists. Other people might ask for cars, clothes, jewelery and the like but when you’re dealing with us, it’s strictly strings, guitars, amplifiers and music. In other words, the REALLY valuable things in life. Now generally I don’t subscribe to materialism, but in the spirit of celebration, I have to admit that it would feel pretty damn good to find a 1934 Gibson L5 or Gibson Super 400 under the tree on Christmas morning. Twenty seven years ago on a cold day in December, one of the most electrifying musical meetings in history took place in Ontario, Canada. Albert King and Stevie Ray Vaughn sat down and went in session on guitar. On that day, they put on a clinic of how to play the blues. Lucky for us, the cameras were rolling and we can now bear witness to the jam session of the century. This is a dvd that will not only remain in my collection indefinitely, I will probably play it so many times that my dvd player will turn the plastic disc into dust.
