I can’t believe it’s that time of year already. The time of year when the man with the red suit decides if we’ve been naughty or nice. Most of us have probably been a little of both. But..On Guitar, I’ve been nothing but nice.. lol. And speaking of guitar, the fact that we’re all guitar players means that most of us have a one track mind when it comes to our christmas lists. Other people might ask for cars, clothes, jewelery and the like but when you’re dealing with us, it’s strictly strings, guitars, amplifiers and music. In other words, the REALLY valuable things in life. Now generally I don’t subscribe to materialism, but in the spirit of celebration, I have to admit that it would feel pretty damn good to find a 1934 Gibson L5 or Gibson Super 400
under the tree on Christmas morning. So just for fun, here’s my Guitar Christmas wishlist..
AD’s Guitar Christmas Wishlist 2010
1- Kindle 3G – O.k., so this one’s not actually a guitar, but as soon as I realized that I could store my sheet music and guitar related books on a kindle, I had to put it on my list.
2- West Coast Seattle Boy: The Jimi Hendrix Anthology (4 CD/ 1 DVD Collectors Box) – The product description states that this Jimi Hendrix Anthology tracks Hendrix’s remarkable journey from little known R&B sideman to international stardom through an unprecedented assemblage of previously unavailable recordings. I’m a sucker for boxsets and when it comes to Jimi hendrix, any item is a must have.

3- Yamaha SLG110N Nylon String Guitar – You’ve got to give it up for the Yamaha SG110N Nylon String Guitar. Not only is it one of the lightest and most portable guitars that I’ve ever played. With it’s futuristic design, the cool factor is through the roof. It also contains a piezo pick up and built in reverb.
4- Eric Clapton – Crossroads Guitar Festival 2010 (2 DVD) – This one’s self explanitory. You don’t have to drive to the arena, you don’t have to pay for parking, and you can replay it an infinite amount of times. Need I say more?!

5- Fender Artist Series Stevie Ray Vaughan Stratocaster Electric Guitar – The Fender Stratocaster is a true legend, and no strat is more legendary than the one played by SRV. Let’s just put it this way.. Could Stevie Ray be wrong about a guitar? I don’t think so!

6- Gibson Flying V Electric Guitar – When it comes to classic Gibsons, none have more attitude than the flying v. The fact that this was Albert King’s signature axe and that Miles Davis has also been rumored to own one pretty much seals the deal.
7- Bugera V5 5-Watt Class-A Valve Amplifier Combo with Reverb – I can’t say enough about this amp. It looks great, it’s lightweight, and with a retail price tag of under $200 dollars, you’d be hard pressed to find a better gig and practice amp.
8- Fender Cyber Twin Amp – In the world of amplifiers the Fender Twin is king among kings, so it’s no surprise that Fender decided to update it with the advent of the Cyber Twin. Besides having the coolest name I’ve ever heard, the Cyber Twin boasts 250 preset sounds, 130 watts of stereo output, 2 vacuum tubes, and 2-12″ Celestion Speakers. This is the amp of the future, and the future sounds great!
9- D’Addario EXL145 Heavy Nickel Steel Electric Guitar Strings – I’ve been playing D’addario strings for so long that I don’t know what it’s like to not play them. If you’ve watched any of my online lessons, these are the strings that have been on my guitar in every one of them. It’s also great to know that D’addario is an environmentally friendly company who cares about the planet.
10- Bitches Brew: 40th Anniversary Collector’s Edition – I actually already own this one but in a moment of carelessness, I lost one of the discs in the Bitches Brew boxset. If I had to, I would buy it another 100 times over. It’s a timeless, classic recording that anyone who has the slightest appreciation for high musical art must have in their collection. Great music and great artwork. It just doesn’t get any better!
11- IK Multimedia AmpliTube iRig for the iPhone/iPad – Ahhh the beauty of technology. Who would have ever thought that you’d be able to stop lugging around a suitcase of pedals and just run your guitar through your iphone to generate all of the prized effects that every modern guitar player cherishes. Although you probably won’t get the exact type of sound that a standard amp and pedal set up produces out of the iRig, it’s unbelievably portable and ridiculously cost effective. For under $40 dollars you get distortion, overdrive, fuzz, delay, envelope filter, flange, chorus, phazer, octave and more. This is technology at its finest!
12- O.G. Original Guitarist Hoodie by AngeloDeStefano.com – It’s cold outside and you need to stay warm. Why not do it with style in an AngeloDeStefano.com O.G. Original Guitarist hoodie. Not only will it keep you stylish and warm, all of my percentage of the proceeds are used to support free online guitar lessons here at AngeloDeStefano.com
Happy Holidays 2010 to you and your family
